1. I don’t even want to mention the weather right now. It’s supposed to be spring, but it sure doesn’t feel like it.

2. This week seemed to go on and on. I’m so glad it’s Friday.

3. It’s my boyfriend’s birthday this weekend. The plan is to celebrate at the pub tonight.

4. I hate cleaning the bathroom. I’m more than willing to do dishes, dust, mop, and vacuum, but I hate doing the bathroom. Every time I do it I dislike it a little more, but it has to be done.

Rilla of Ingleside March 22 2013

5. I started reading the last book in a series this week. I’m going to be so sad when I finish it. Sometimes you really connect with characters and just don’t want to let go.

6. How is it almost Easter already? It feels like it was only Christmas a couple weeks ago.

7. My current edible obsession is egg salad. I have no idea why, but I’ve been wanting it so much lately, but I’ve had it twice this week. I think I’ve eaten it once or twice in the last year. Weird.

8. Speaking of cravings, yesterday I was talking to my boss about pizza. Now I want it. Bad.

What’s your least favourite household chore? Are you craving anything?

Friday night was spent with my boyfriend and his roommates, celebrating one of their birthdays. We went to Limerick’s cause it’s only a few blocks away from their place. There was beer, a birthday hat, and lots of laughing involved.

The Wise Woman March 11 2013

Saturday morning I spent reading. I wasn’t drawn into the storyline until about halfway through, but now I’m having a hard time putting it down.

For the first time in a long time I watched a movie by myself. I have a hard time sitting still for 2 hours, so I can usually only do it if I’m watching a movie with someone, but Munich managed to keep me interested.

Sunday the boyfriend and I went out for breakfast (I had French toast and fruit) and then we did some running around, including a stop at the farmer’s market.

Last night I enjoyed watching The Amazing Race and The Good Wife. I only started watching The Good Wife a few months ago, so I’m trying to fight the temptation to watch the previous seasons.

Smartie Brittle March 11 2013

My brother went snowboarding at Lake Louise yesterday, and he stopped and got the rest of the family a little something. He got me some white chocolate Smartie brittle. I’ve had it before, and it was delicious! I can pretty much guarantee that it won’t last very long.

What did you do this weekend? Do you know who you’d do The Amazing Race with?

Smash Burger February 13 2013 (1)

I went out for lunch with my dad for lunch on Friday. We ended up at Smash Burger.

Smash Burger February 13 2013 (2)

We split an order of sweet potato fries. You can’t go wrong with sweet potato fries, they’re so tasty!

After getting some laundry and housework done in Saturday, the boyfriend and I had a date night. We got dinner and then went back to his place to watch Rush Hour with Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker. Who would have thought those two actors would be so funny together?

Shouldice Park February 3 2013 (4)

Sunday I went for a walk by the river. It was a beautiful day.

City of Bones February 4 2013

I spent a good chunk of Sunday afternoon reading a book. Thrillers usually aren’t my first choice, but a friend lent this one to me, so I thought I’d try it. I’m glad I did cause I’m almost half done already.

Are you reading anything good right now?

1. It’s absolutely beautiful outside right now. In fact, it’s so nice I even have the window cracked for a little fresh air. It’s supposed to stay nice for the next little while too.

Rainbow Valley

2. I’m reading the second last book in the Anne of Green Gables series. I’m kind of sad that it’ll be over soon. It feels like Harry Potter all over again.

3. Tonight is date night with the boyfriend. I jokingly suggested a 3 course, romantic, candle lit dinner. He in turn suggested McDonald’s. Hopefully he was joking too.

New Dresser January 2013 (4)

4. I’m thinking my new dresser is looking pretty nice. Know how when you get a new piece of furniture it looks weird at first until you get used to it? Well it’s finally looking like it belongs in my room now.

5. I’m officially registered for soccer. I CAN’T WAIT TIL APRIL! A couple people on my team have already been emailing each other. I can’t wait to see them.

6. Watching soccer on TV doesn’t make you feel any less impatient for soccer. In fact, it makes it worse. Thanks a lot Newcastle and Chelsea.

Mucho Burrito January 25 2013

Friday I went to Mucho Burrito for lunch. I decided to get a chicken burrito – usually I get quesadillas when I’m there. I’m glad I decided to get something different, cause the burrito was delicious!

Friday night the boyfriend and I went out for sushi at Sho for date night. The gyoza were especially tasty. Afterwards we ended up watching The Recruit with Al Pacino.

Me in Flames Jersey January 26 2013

Saturday night I was invited to the Flames/Oilers game with a friend’s dad. Of course I had to wear my jersey to the Saddledome.

Flames Oilers Game January 26 2013 (2)

The game was being broadcast on Hockey Night in Canada, so Don Cherry was at the game, in one of his signature colourful suits. Apparently HNIC has been on TV for 60 years. I had no idea it was that old.

Flames Oilers Game January 26 2013 (3)

There’s a huge rivalry between the Flames and the Oilers, so I knew it was going to be a great game. The Flames won their first game of the season (finally), 4 – 3 over Edmonton.

Bag of Bones January 28 2012

Sunday morning the boyfriend and I went out for brunch. I got pancakes (very tasty but really filling). I spent the rest of the day cleaning and reading. I got pulled in for the second half of this book, and I’m just a hundred pages from the end. I can’t wait to find out what happens to all the characters.

What did you do this weekend?

Christmas Party Outfit January 4 2013

Friday night the boyfriend had a work Christmas party. I wasn’t sure what I should wear, so I decided on the above outfit with jeans. It was pretty casual and I think I hit it spot on.

Christmas Party January 4 2013

The food was pretty good – dry ribs, chicken wings, tortilla chips and salsa, carrot sticks, celery, and broccoli. There was some mini putt and pool playing too as the night went on.

Saturday was pretty laid back, getting some laundry and errands done. One of my priorities was to get a new salad spinner. The handle had broken off the one we had awhile ago. I had to stick the end of a fork into the hole to get it to spin – it was definitely time to get a new one. I’m happy to say the new one works amazingly.

Sunday morning was spent with the boyfriend. We went out for breakfast and I had my very first parfait. It had yogurt, fruit, and granola. It was pretty good – I’d definitely make one at home.

The Lost Symbol January 7 2013

Source

I finished reading The Lost Symbol. It took me longer than I thought it would to get through it, but it was a fun, easy read that I didn’t have to think very hard about.

Did you do anything exciting this weekend?

Friday night was spent with the boyfriend. I had a groupon for a really good Mexican restaurant that I had bought a couple months ago, and figured date night would be a great time to use it. The margaritas were awesome, the nachos and tacos were delicious, and all in all it was a pretty fun night.

The White Queen by Phillipa Gregory

Saturday was pretty laid back. I did laundry and read. I started The White Queen a couple days ago and I’m really enjoying it. If you like historical fiction I’d definitely recommend Philippa Gregory.

Sunday morning I went to church, then spent the day with the boyfriend. We ended up going to see The Hobbit and doing some Christmas shopping. The movie definitely wasn’t as good as I was hoping it to be, but it also wasn’t completely horrible either.

What was the best part of your weekend?

Earlier in the week I got an email about babysitting, so I spent Friday night playing restaurant and board games, and once the kids were in bed, reading.

The Luxe November 5 2012

Saturday I had to finish the book I was reading – it was too good to leave it. I needed to know what happened to the characters. I ended up finishing it in a couple hours, and even though the book is done, it’s the first in a trilogy, so now I want to read the other two books too.

Saturday night was date night with the boyfriend. It was pretty laid back. We ended up at a pub for dinner where I had a hamburger that I was craving. It was pretty good. Then we went back to his place and watched Ironman.

Sunday morning was all about getting stuff done like laundry, groceries, and filling the car with gas. It’s amazing how fast that stuff piles up.

Sunday afternoon I hung out with the boyfriend and some of his friends to play Risk. I thought I was competitive when I played that game, but they were pretty intense. I hadn’t played it in awhile, but it was still pretty fun. I had to leave before the game ended, but during my last turn I completely crushed, I mean, eliminated one of them, so they ended up taking over for me.

Sunday night I went to my yoga class. The class has a different feel to it, but I can’t pinpoint what it was that was different. Maybe I’m finally getting back into the yoga groove and I was able to relax more during class, I don’t know.

Did you do anything exciting over the weekend?

I know I say this every Monday, but where did my weekend go?

Friday night was a date night with the boyfriend. We went to our favourite Chinese buffet place for dinner, then it was back to his place to watch a scary movie. I bought a couple DVD’s over to pick from, and we decided on The Amityville Horror. Haha, I now know not to watch scary movies with him cause he likes to make fun of them too much.

The State of Africa

Saturday I spent doing laundry and reading. Exciting, huh? The good news is that I FINALLY finished a book I’d been reading since the summer. In my defense though, it was a non-fiction 700 page monster. If you’re looking for a book about the history of post-colonial Africa (I mean, who isn’t?), I’d definitely go with this one. Even though it was really good, it was still pretty big.

Sense and Sensability

I also finished reading Sense and Sensibility. I still like Pride and Prejudice better, though Sense and Sensibility was pretty good. I’ve already started my next book.

Sunday afternoon was spent at the movie theatre to see Cloud Atlas. I wasn’t sure I’d like it, but it was the boyfriend’s turn to pick a movie. I ended up liking it more than I thought I would. It took awhile for me to put things together because there were so many storylines, but the second half of the movie was pretty good.

I had free movie tickets so we ended up going to a theatre I’d never been to before. It was pretty fancy. When we got our tickets we got to reserve our seats. Then once we got inside the theatre and found our (leather) seats, I almost had a heart attack when I sat down. The seats reclined, but I didn’t know that when I sat down – I thought I was going flying.

After the movie we went to Sho, a sushi restaurant the boyfriend had been wanting to try. We both agreed that the gyoza was pretty awesome. My veggie roll was really good too – I loved the mango on top of it.

My yoga class was last night. It’s such a good way to end the weekend and get my head focused for the coming week. I’ve started to get a feel for the way the teacher plans her classes, so it’s kind of nice to know what’s in store for the hour and a half that I’m there. She changes it up a little every week, but I definitely know the poses that she likes to do every class.

What did you do exciting this weekend?

Woohoo! Here’s what I have going on this weekend:

1. Pride and Prejudice on Saturday night. I’m super excited about this. It’s one of my favourite books, can I can’t wait to see it in theatre form. I follow Theatre Calgary on Twitter, and they’ve been tweeting sneak peaks about the performance. Every time i read one I get a little more excited.

2. The weather isn’t going to be very nice this weekend. The forecast is for rain, snow, and cold temperatures. Summer is definitely long gone. I might already miss the sun and warmth a little bit.

3. It’s amazing how fast the leaves are changing outside. We had a bunch of wind the other day, and it blew most of the leaves off the tree right outside my bedroom window. It looks so sad now. I need to get outside more and enjoy the changing seasons. Before I know it, it’ll be winter already.

4. I’ve been craving candy corn like crazy for the last couple weeks. I finally broke down and bought some this week. I haven’t had any in a couple years, and it’s honestly not as good as I remembered it to be. Kind of a disappointment, but it still hits the spot when my sweet tooth acts up.

5. I bought a lock for my bike a couple days ago. There’s been a couple times when I’ve wished I’d have had one. Now I do and I can ride my bike, then leave it to walk the rest of the way. It’ll come in particularly useful in Glenbow Ranch Provincial Park where there are a few spots that you’re not allowed to ride your bike.

6. I recently got photos printed from over the summer. Everything from soccer to vacation. I’m pretty happy now that I have them all labelled and in an album. I feel so organized

The State of Africa and Sense and Sensibility October 17 2012

7. I’m reading two really good books right now. I haven’t had much time to read this week, but I really want to put in a couple hours this weekend. The books are Sense and Sensibility by Jane Austen and The State of Africa by Martin Meredith in case you were wondering.

8. That’s all I have. Enjoy your weekend!
