1. It’s absolutely beautiful outside right now. In fact, it’s so nice I even have the window cracked for a little fresh air. It’s supposed to stay nice for the next little while too.

Rainbow Valley

2. I’m reading the second last book in the Anne of Green Gables series. I’m kind of sad that it’ll be over soon. It feels like Harry Potter all over again.

3. Tonight is date night with the boyfriend. I jokingly suggested a 3 course, romantic, candle lit dinner. He in turn suggested McDonald’s. Hopefully he was joking too.

New Dresser January 2013 (4)

4. I’m thinking my new dresser is looking pretty nice. Know how when you get a new piece of furniture it looks weird at first until you get used to it? Well it’s finally looking like it belongs in my room now.

5. I’m officially registered for soccer. I CAN’T WAIT TIL APRIL! A couple people on my team have already been emailing each other. I can’t wait to see them.

6. Watching soccer on TV doesn’t make you feel any less impatient for soccer. In fact, it makes it worse. Thanks a lot Newcastle and Chelsea.

Friday night was spent with the boyfriend. I had a groupon for a really good Mexican restaurant that I had bought a couple months ago, and figured date night would be a great time to use it. The margaritas were awesome, the nachos and tacos were delicious, and all in all it was a pretty fun night.

The White Queen by Phillipa Gregory

Saturday was pretty laid back. I did laundry and read. I started The White Queen a couple days ago and I’m really enjoying it. If you like historical fiction I’d definitely recommend Philippa Gregory.

Sunday morning I went to church, then spent the day with the boyfriend. We ended up going to see The Hobbit and doing some Christmas shopping. The movie definitely wasn’t as good as I was hoping it to be, but it also wasn’t completely horrible either.

What was the best part of your weekend?

I meant to publish this post on Wednesday, but apparently I didn’t, and I was too busy celebrating to realize it. So here it is, a couple days late. Enjoy!

Birthday November 14 2012

Source

I turn 30 today. I’ve been around for 3 decades. That’s kind of terrifying in so many ways. I never really thought I’d make it to adulthood, and it seems that I’ve arrived. Weird.

The last year has been pretty crazy.

A year ago, November 2011 I started dating my ex. He was the first guy I actually let in to know the real me. It was definitely terrifying at first, but totally worth it. I still think he’s a pretty awesome guy. He’s going to make someone very happy, and she’ll be very lucky to have him.

Yoga Mat Birthday November 14 2012

In January I took my very first yoga class. I was absolutely terrified, but I did it anyways, and ended up really liking it.

In March a family member got really sick, very fast. Almost dying sick, and we found out they had cancer. The month that they were in the hospital was crazy stressful, but at the same time, when they were allowed to come back home, it was such a relief. It makes you appreciate every day that you have with the people that you love.

Soccer Cropped Tourney June 2012

In April I started playing soccer. It was the first time I’d ever played. I was absolutely terrified, but in the end, I’m so glad I started. I had so much fun, and met some really amazing people.

In July I started dating my boyfriend. He’s kind of awesome if I do say so myself. We’ve only been together for four months, but at the same time it feels like we’ve spent so much time together already. I’m pretty glad I met him.

Stuff 009

In July we had to put down our dog, Bailey. I know I’ve mentioned him on the blog a couple times, and seriously, we loved him like crazy, even if he did cause trouble once in awhile a lot. The whole family was able to say goodbye – I was able to leave work early and my brother went into work late. It was so hard. Really hard, but we were able to spend an amazing 15 years with him that I wouldn’t trade for anything.

Blind Bay Vacation August 2012 (1)

I went on vacation in August for the first time in years. I spent mornings on the dock by myself, and the rest of the days with some of my favourite people. Possibly the most relaxing vacation I’ve ever been on.

It’s been a pretty crazy year. There’s been some fun stuff and some losses, successes and failures. I guess you never know what’s going to happen.

Glenbow Ranch Provincial Park September 28 2012 (12)

1. I didn’t have to go into work today, so my dad and I went on a bike ride this morning. It was my first time going to the Glenbow Ranch Provincial Park. It was beautiful!

2. There’s snow in the forecast for next week. I’m not impressed in the least.

3. I was carrying entirely too much change around in my wallet. I decided to put it in rolls this afternoon, so I found out exactly how much is too much. No wonder my bag weighed a ton.

4. I’m going for a walk with a friend tomorrow morning. I can’t wait to have some time to hang out. There’s a secret that I have to keep from her for the next couple weeks though (it’s a good secret, don’t worry), but I’m scared it’s going to slip out before I have a chance to stop myself. I’m so bad at lying.

Cranberry Orange Scone September 28 2012

5. I’ve eaten two cranberry orange scones the last few days that my dad bought at the farmer’s market. They’re beyond delicious. I’m surprised I haven’t eaten every single one.

6. I haven’t baked anything in a week or two. I need to make sure I make something tasty this weekend.

7. I’ve bought some really good books lately that I really really really want to start, but I’m already in the middle of two (good) books. I need to read faster.

8. It’s date night tonight!

9. Enjoy your weekend.

Bike September 2012

1. It’s already September 21. Summer flew by way too fast, and now before I know it, it’ll be winter and fall will be over too.

2. I bought a new bike this week. More about it later, but it’s awesome. Let’s just say I’m a little wobbly at times – I don’t think I’ve ridden a bike since junior high. That’s 15 years!

3. I’ve been planning out bike routes. Yeah, I may or may not have done that at work yesterday.

Pocky September 21 2012

4. I got these candy things at a sushi restaurant on the weekend. Then I saw them at London Drugs this week. I’ve never seen them before in my life, and now I see them twice in one week. Weird.

5. The weather has been amazing the last couple weeks. It still feels like summer, with temperatures in the mid twenties. Today was 25C, (77F) perfect if you ask me.

6. I have a date tonight with the boyfriend.

7. I’m going to a birthday party Saturday night. Someone asked me if there was going to be a bouncy castle. I doubt it, as the birthday boy is turning 31.

8. I’ve ordered two things online last week. I’m eagerly awaiting their arrival. I’m like a little kid. Why does shipping always seem to take foreeeeeeever?

9. Have a great weekend!

A week or two ago while I was reading the newspaper I saw an ad for Theatre Calgary’s upcoming season. When I saw that one of my favourite books, Pride and Prejudice,  was being put on I knew I had to find someone to go with me.

Pride and Prejudice Tickets September 8 2012

I asked the boyfriend if he wanted to go with me. I wasn’t expecting him to say yes, but he did, and I didn’t even have to talk him into it. Although we’ve been on lots of dates, I think this will be our first “fancy dress up” date. Our tickets aren’t until October, but I’m super excited about it.

Whenever I think of Mr Darcy, Colin Firth automatically pops into my head. He did such a great job playing him in the BBC version. I’m hoping this theatre one is just as good as that version.

Pride and Prejudice Tickets September 8 2012 (1)

The last show I saw was The Lion King a couple summers ago. I had wanted to see it for a long time, and when it came to Calgary I knew I had to get tickets. I’ve also seen The Phantom of the Opera, Show Boat, and South Pacific. My favourite has to be The Phantom of the Opera.

What’s your favourite movie version of Pride and Prejudice? What’s the last show you’ve seen at the theatre?

1. I’m looking forward to this weekend. It’ll hopefully be full of Greek food, friends, and a drink or two, and a walk along the river. Sounds pretty good already, doesn’t it?

2. I refuse to let the fact that it’s supposed to rain ALL weekend put a damper on my fun. I don’t have to work (well I do a little on Saturday, but that’s besides the point), so I’m going to make myself enjoy my time off.

3. On the bright side the rain will mean my garden will be growing. Right now we have lettuce, radishes, peas, zucchini, cucumber, and a couple other things growing. It makes me happy whenever I see something else starting to come up.

4. I’m going to see Snow White and the Huntsman tonight with some friends. It looks pretty good, doesn’t it?

5. I plan on sleeping on both Saturday and Sunday. I’m exhausted and I’m going to let myself catch up on the sleep I’ve missed this week.

6. I only have one more soccer game left in the season. That makes me pretty sad. On the up side though, there will be food, drinks, and lots of celebrating after the game.

7. On the other hand I’ll be happy to not have to deal with sweaty shin guards or socks.

8. I’ll be watching lots of Euro 2012 soccer this weekend. I’m hoping the teams I’m rooting for will play well!

9. Being single stinks. For real.  Anyone know any cute guys in their late 20’s or early 30’s? Smile

10. The last three facts took me a good twenty minutes to come up with, and I can’t think of the last one, so you’re getting a fake 10th fact. I’m just a good blogger like that.

Hope you enjoy your weekend, whatever you’re doing!

I’m tired of being single. Big surprise, huh? I found this on Pinterest and thought it was great.credit
