A couple months ago I found this recipe on Lindsay’s blog, The Lean Green Bean. It’s taken me awhile to make it, but I did, and it was pretty good, so I thought I’d share it.

Frozen Yogurt Granola Bars March 26 2013 (1)

It’s really fast and easy to make. It took me under 10 minutes to have everything mixed together and in the freezer.

You can use whatever berries you like. I had a bag of frozen strawberries and a bag of mixed berries in the freezer, so I put a little of both in. Next time I think I’ll just go with the strawberries – they’re definitely my favourite.

For all the details, click here for the recipe. I think these would be a great snack on a hot summer day – perfect for cooling off.

Strawberry French Toast March 22 2013

I went out for lunch on Friday to a new breakfast place near me. I hadn’t been yet and I was wanting to check it out. EggsOasis was really busy, but luckily we didn’t have to wait for a table. I decided on the strawberry French toast. It was pretty good. It even came with cream for the strawberries. So tasty!

Fortune Cookie March 22 2013

Friday night the boyfriend and I went out for dinner. It took us awhile to decide where we wanted to go, and we finally picked a Chinese buffet. I really liked me fortune cookie. I hope they’re proud of me!

I managed to catch most of my favourite Alfred Hitchcock movie on TV on Saturday – Rope. I first saw it a couple years ago around Halloween, when there were a bunch of Hitchcock movies on TV. Since then it’s been my favourite.

Sunday was pretty laid back and I didn’t do much. Every once in awhile I need a day like that.

Did you do anything exciting this weekend? What’s your favourite Alfred Hitchcock movie?

1. I don’t even want to mention the weather right now. It’s supposed to be spring, but it sure doesn’t feel like it.

2. This week seemed to go on and on. I’m so glad it’s Friday.

3. It’s my boyfriend’s birthday this weekend. The plan is to celebrate at the pub tonight.

4. I hate cleaning the bathroom. I’m more than willing to do dishes, dust, mop, and vacuum, but I hate doing the bathroom. Every time I do it I dislike it a little more, but it has to be done.

Rilla of Ingleside March 22 2013

5. I started reading the last book in a series this week. I’m going to be so sad when I finish it. Sometimes you really connect with characters and just don’t want to let go.

6. How is it almost Easter already? It feels like it was only Christmas a couple weeks ago.

7. My current edible obsession is egg salad. I have no idea why, but I’ve been wanting it so much lately, but I’ve had it twice this week. I think I’ve eaten it once or twice in the last year. Weird.

8. Speaking of cravings, yesterday I was talking to my boss about pizza. Now I want it. Bad.

What’s your least favourite household chore? Are you craving anything?

Like I mentioned awhile ago, I made banana bread, and I thought it was about time I shared it with you.

Cooled and ready to eat.

I used the banana bread recipe from Martha Stewart’s Baking Handbook, but you can find a very similar recipe here.

What’s the last thing you baked?

Pasta Casserole February 28 2013 (2)

I made this the other night and it turned out great, even if it did take longer to make than the recipe said. It was still definitely worth it.

There was enough for leftovers, and this was one of the things that I was looking forward to eating for lunches. It was just as good the second time around. You can find the recipe here.

What’s the last thing you made that was utterly delicious?

Friday ended up being pretty low key – I didn’t do much other than laundry.

Banana Bread February 23 2013 (8)

Saturday afternoon I made some banana bread for the boyfriend as part of his Christmas gift. I HATE bananas – the smell, the taste, and the texture, it’s just all so gross, so he’s pretty lucky I made it for him.

Saturday night I headed out to go bowling with some friends that I hadn’t seen in awhile. The first game I only scored 88 points, but the second I managed to get 100. I was pretty excited, as I’m a pretty horrible bowler.

Roll Up the Rim to Win February 23 2013

After we decided to go to Tim Horton’s. I got my usual hot chocolate. I even managed to win a coffee with my Roll Up the Rim cup. It was great to be able to hang out and talk with some friends that I haven’t seen in over a year.

While we were talking somehow the subject of Snoop Dogg came up. One of my friends said he’d changed his name from to Snoop Lion. No one else had heard about that, so we were pretty sceptical until someone got out their phone and confirmed it. Snoop Lion also thinks he’s the reincarnation of Bob Marley according to my friend. Apparently I’m not current on the latest hip hop gossip.

Sunday afternoon I spent with the boyfriend. After doing some errands we got lunch at a great sushi place near his house. I got some California rolls and my usual veggie roll. I’ll have to remember to take a picture of it next time cause the veggie roll is always so pretty with avocado and strawberry on top of it.

Pocky February 25 2013

They give out Pocky, and I always pick strawberry. Every. Single. Time. Has anyone tried the chocolate? Which do you like better?

Roasted Chickpeas November 23 2012 (1)

Dry the chickpeas as much as possible. It was a slow process. There has to be an easier way of doing it.

Put them in a bowl.

Add spices and mix.

Bake. They took longer to bake than the recipe said. I had to put them back in for an additional 25 minutes to make them crunchy.

Eat!

While I liked the spices included in the recipe, next time I make these I think I’m going to try using the spices that I use in my cereal snack mix.

I used this recipe from Meghan Telpner.

Mucho Burrito January 25 2013

Friday I went to Mucho Burrito for lunch. I decided to get a chicken burrito – usually I get quesadillas when I’m there. I’m glad I decided to get something different, cause the burrito was delicious!

Friday night the boyfriend and I went out for sushi at Sho for date night. The gyoza were especially tasty. Afterwards we ended up watching The Recruit with Al Pacino.

Me in Flames Jersey January 26 2013

Saturday night I was invited to the Flames/Oilers game with a friend’s dad. Of course I had to wear my jersey to the Saddledome.

Flames Oilers Game January 26 2013 (2)

The game was being broadcast on Hockey Night in Canada, so Don Cherry was at the game, in one of his signature colourful suits. Apparently HNIC has been on TV for 60 years. I had no idea it was that old.

Flames Oilers Game January 26 2013 (3)

There’s a huge rivalry between the Flames and the Oilers, so I knew it was going to be a great game. The Flames won their first game of the season (finally), 4 – 3 over Edmonton.

Bag of Bones January 28 2012

Sunday morning the boyfriend and I went out for brunch. I got pancakes (very tasty but really filling). I spent the rest of the day cleaning and reading. I got pulled in for the second half of this book, and I’m just a hundred pages from the end. I can’t wait to find out what happens to all the characters.

What did you do this weekend?
