Goals April 2013

Source

In March I wanted to practice yoga once and week and journal three times a week.

The yoga turned out pretty good – I only missed one week. I forgot how good it feels to practice, and I think I’ll try to continue doing it a couple times a month.

While getting back into the habit of journaling was definitely a challenge at first, it felt pretty comfortable by the end of the month. At the beginning I was struggling with finding the time and topics to write about. The last week or two have been a lot easier though.

Here’s what I want to do in April:

Workout 4 times a week. I’ve been pretty consistent with my workouts lately. Soccer starts later this month which I’m really excited about, but I also think it’ll make it tough to get my morning workouts in. The games don’t end until 9, so by the time I get home, showered, and in bed it’s close to 10. Being up that late makes it tough for me to get up early to workout the next day, but I’m going to commit to getting in 4 workouts every week.

Watch less TV. Over the last while I’ve been watching more and more TV. It’s so easy do go over the winter – it’s cold and snowy outside, the nights get longer, and all I want to do it curl up on the couch under a blanket. But the amount of TV I’m watching right now is kind of embarrassing. I want to cut down so I can spend more time doing the things that are important to be instead of mindlessly watching bad reality TV.

March Goals March 5 2013

I did awesome at accomplishing my goals in February. I wanted to be more consistent with my workouts and be in bed before 10 most nights. Both of which I did. Woohoo! Here’s what I want to do this month.

Practice yoga at least once a week. Since my last yoga class in December I’ve noticed how tight my left hip and shoulders get. Sure I’ve done a couple yoga workouts on my own since then, but nothing consistent. I think if I start doing yoga again once a week it’ll help with the tightness.

Journal 3 times a week. I used to journal daily, It was awesome. There’s something about being able to get my thoughts on paper that makes me less stressed and anxious. I want to get back into that routine.

Goals February 7 2013

Last month my goals were to journal and go for walks more consistently. While I didn’t do either of them as much as I wanted to (three times a week), I still managed to do them a more than I was before. So while I didn’t meet my goal, it still wasn’t a failure either.

Here’s what i want to do this month:

Go to bed at a decent time. Lately my my bedtime has been getting later and later. I definitely notice it during the day, as I’m usually feeling ready for a nap in the afternoon. Plus getting up early is infinitely harder if I’ve gone to bed late the night before. My plan is to be in bed with the lights out at 10 5 nights a week.

Workout 3 times a week. Now that I’ve signed up for soccer I want to make sure I’m prepared by the time of my first game mid April. Lately my workouts have been really sporadic – 4 workouts one week and just 1 or 2 the next. I want to be more consistent.

January Goals 2013

Journal. My journaling has been sorely lacking the last few months. I want to get back to doing it daily, but for the next few weeks I’ll be happy with three times a week.

Walking. I used to walk nearly everyday. I miss it and I want to start doing it again. I’m still getting over a cold, so I’m going to take it easy. Right now I’m aiming for three times a week.

Make Yourself Proud January 1 2012

First off, between Christmas, having a family member in the hospital, and getting a cold, I’ve neglected the blog. I’m not sorry – my time was better spent at the hospital, spending time celebrating, or recuperating, I just wanted to say I haven’t forgotten about my readers!

I’m honestly pretty happy 2012 is over and done. Lots of sad, tough things happened. It seemed like as soon as one thing got better, something else happened. Life seems to like throwing things at me like that.

I’m hoping that 2013 is going to be better than 2012. Looking back over 2012 I’ve made some pretty awesome accomplishments. I didn’t back down when things were tough. I was able to handle a lot of crap that I didn’t think I could. I made good decisions when it counted. I was able to make it out on the other side.

In 2013 I’m going to do more of the same. I want to surprise myself with my strength, my ability to deal with whatever comes my way. I think I’m able to appreciate more the time I have with the people that I love and care about. The less limits I put on myself, the more I’m able to achieve.

So looking forward to 2013, I want to do more than I did last year. I think that sums it up.

Boot Camp December 12 2012

This is the last week of Tina’s boot camp. It’s hard to believe that it’s been just about two months since I started – it seems like such a long time ago.

One of the things I’m most proud of is getting back into the habit of working out most days. My average is 4 or 5 times a week. I’m hoping I’ll be able to keep this up through the holidays and then into the new year.

I also really like the idea of keeping up the week long goals after the boot camp is over. Some of my goals have been as simple as making sure I’m in bed and the light off my 10. You’d think it would be a pretty easy thing to do, but some nights it’s harder than it sounds.

Looking back, I’m really glad I signed up for this round of boot camp. If you’re interested in participating in the next round starting January 7th, you can check out the details here.

Goals November 1 2012

I know we’re already a week into November, but I wanted to make sure I got my goals for the month up. It’s been a couple months since I’ve done it, and I want to get back on track.

Journal three times a week. I always have good intentions to journal, but it always seems like I run out of time at the end of the day. I’m going to make this a priority during November though.

Walk outside twice a week. The last few months I haven’t been very good at getting to Bowmont for walks. I can’t even remember the last time I was there. That needs to change. The fact that winter is coming can’t be an excuse for me. I have a warm coat, scarves, and gloves. Even if I don’t have the motivation or time to get to Bowmont, there’s plenty of places to walk near the house that I don’t have to drive to. Not only is it good for my body to go for a walk, but they have always been a great stress reliever for me.

What are you hoping to accomplish during November?

Bowmont September 4 2012

Here’s what I wanted to do in August:

Take it easy. I think I definitely nailed this one. I spent five days on vacation away from home, work, and everyday life. I needed that break because I didn’t realize how easy it is to let the little things stress me out more than they need to. Now that I know what a difference it makes, I’m definitely going to try to not hold onto things, especially when in the grand scheme of things, they don’t really matter.

Eat better. I’m still trying to work on this one, but I’m definitely in the habit of eating better than I have been the last little while. One thing that felt really good is that I didn’t gain any weight while I was in vacation. I wasn’t gone for too long, but it would have been really easy to eat out and go crazy with the desserts and snacks with the excuse of being on vacation.

This month here’s what I want to accomplish:

Go to Bowmont 3 times a week. I haven’t been spending as much time at Bowmont as I would like. Last summer I walked almost every day, but this summer I’m lucky if I get there once every two or three weeks. I want to make sure I enjoy it while it’s still warm and sunny out, because before I know it it’ll be winter already.

Journal 3 times a week. I journaled every morning while I was on vacation, That’s the most consistent I’ve been in months. I haven’t done it once since I’ve been back. While I don’t think I’d be able to go back to doing it daily right away, I think three times a week is definitely doable.
