Strawberry French Toast March 22 2013

I went out for lunch on Friday to a new breakfast place near me. I hadn’t been yet and I was wanting to check it out. EggsOasis was really busy, but luckily we didn’t have to wait for a table. I decided on the strawberry French toast. It was pretty good. It even came with cream for the strawberries. So tasty!

Fortune Cookie March 22 2013

Friday night the boyfriend and I went out for dinner. It took us awhile to decide where we wanted to go, and we finally picked a Chinese buffet. I really liked me fortune cookie. I hope they’re proud of me!

 

I managed to catch most of my favourite Alfred Hitchcock movie on TV on Saturday – Rope. I first saw it a couple years ago around Halloween, when there were a bunch of Hitchcock movies on TV. Since then it’s been my favourite.

Sunday was pretty laid back and I didn’t do much. Every once in awhile I need a day like that.

I’m feeling pretty good about my workouts over the last week. I’ve been really trying hard to focus on on what I’m doing during my workouts instead of allowing my mind to wander.

30 Day Shred DVD

Monday I did my 30 Day Shred DVD. My abs definitely felt sore the next day.

Tae Bo Flex DVD

Wednesday I did a Tae Bo DVD that I bought when I was still in university. I haven’t done it in awhile, so I thought it would be a nice change. I forgot how much Billy Blanks really gets into the workout – it’s kind of cool.

Yoga March 23 2013

Thursday I was feeling like yoga, so that’s exactly what I did. I held the poses for longer than I usually would, so it felt good to slow down and really get a feel for each pose. Please tell me I’m not the only one who has one leg/arm/hip that’s occasionally tighter than the other one.

One on One Training with Jackie DVD March 23 2013

Yesterday when my alarm went off I wasn’t feeling motivated to workout at all. All I wanted to do was roll over and go back to sleep. I managed to get myself moving and out of bed though. I ended up doing the lower body workout from One on One Training with Jackie. I’m definitely feeling it today, with all the squats and lunges I did.

What was your favourite workout this week?

1. I don’t even want to mention the weather right now. It’s supposed to be spring, but it sure doesn’t feel like it.

2. This week seemed to go on and on. I’m so glad it’s Friday.

3. It’s my boyfriend’s birthday this weekend. The plan is to celebrate at the pub tonight.

4. I hate cleaning the bathroom. I’m more than willing to do dishes, dust, mop, and vacuum, but I hate doing the bathroom. Every time I do it I dislike it a little more, but it has to be done.

5. I started reading the last book in a series this week. I’m going to be so sad when I finish it. Sometimes you really connect with characters and just don’t want to let go.

6. How is it almost Easter already? It feels like it was only Christmas a couple weeks ago.

7. My current edible obsession is egg salad. I have no idea why, but I’ve been wanting it so much lately, but I’ve had it twice this week. I think I’ve eaten it once or twice in the last year. Weird.

8. Speaking of cravings, yesterday I was talking to my boss about pizza. Now I want it. Bad.

Today is the first day of spring! I can’t convey how excited I am about that. This winter has felt very cold, snowy, and long. I can’t wait for warm, sunny days!

WIAW Breakfast March 20 2013

For breakfast I had some cereal, yogurt, an orange, and water. I never buy fat free yogurt – it doesn’t taste like anything to me.

Lunch was a ham sandwich on a multi grain ciabatta bun with swiss cheese and mustard, a spinach salad with feta cheese and dressing, and a Granny Smith apple. I love how tart and crunchy Granny Smith apples are. I also had a glass of water.

For dinner I had a chicken and veggie stir fry with sweet and sour sauce. I could probably eat stir fries a couple times a week and not get bored.  Underneath the stir fry is rice, though it’s hard to see in the photo. I had water to drink.

 

Oatmeal Cookies March 14 2013 (1)

I made some oatmeal cookies awhile ago. When I say “made”, I mean that in the very loosest sense of the word. All I did was add an egg or two, some oil, and water, and the cookie dough was done.

They turned out okay, but you could tell that they weren’t homemade. I usually don’t make things from mixes, and these cookies confirm why. If I’m going to put in the effort to bake something, I might as well do it all by myself instead of using a mix, cause it always turns out way better.

That’s not to say that they didn’t get eaten though. Within a couple days they were all gone.

Friday afternoon I went out for lunch with my dad to a new pizza place near us, The Rock. I meant to take a picture of our pizza, but by the time I remembered, it was all eaten. Out pizza was supposed to have black olives, Italian sausage, and meatballs, but unfortunately we ended up not having any meatballs at all, which was disappointing.

Friday night was date night. The boyfriend and I originally had plans to go to an Irish pub a couple blocks from his place, but instead we ended up with takeout sushi from Kinjo. I ordered a veggie roll and a California roll, but there was no way I could finish it all. It was just too much food.

Saturday morning I met up with a friend to go for a walk. It was snowing and cold, but we went anyways. I’m glad we did, cause it was really pretty with the snow on the trees.

Sunday morning the boyfriend and I ended up going out for breakfast at a breakfast buffet. I had French toast, some hash browns (who can resist them, they’re so tasty), and fruit. Lots and lots of fruit. I think the fruit was my favourite part of the buffet.

 

After a few errands we watched Red back at his place. I think Helen Mirren is an amazing actress, so I was excited to see her in an action movie. She was great in it!

Green Beer March 17 2013

Sunday afternoon was spent at a pub drinking green beer with my brother and a few of his friends. When our server asked if I wanted my Grasshopper green I said yes. While we were there in addition to green beer, I also saw some green wine.

One on One Training with Jackie DVD March 16 2013

Monday and Friday I did workouts from One on One Training with Jackie. Monday was lower body and Friday was upper body.

Walk 2

Wednesday was beautiful, so I ended up going to a walk.

Walk 1

Today I went for a walk with a friend. It’s a good thing I was meeting her, cause if it was up to me I would have lasted about 5 minutes. It was cold (-20 with the wind chill) and snowy. But it was also pretty seeing the snow on the trees.

Yesterday it was beautiful outside. It was warm and the sun was out. It was awesome, so I decided to go for a walk.

I forgot my ipod at home, so I didn’t get to listen to the podcast that I downloaded. I thought the walk would be the perfect opportunity to listen to it, so I planned for a 50 minute walk. The podcast ended when I was within sight of the car, so I think it timed it pretty good.

The way out was pretty relaxing cause I was going downhill. However the way back was definitely tough. I forgot how big the hills are. As tough as it was though, it was a great leg workout.

I’m seriously craving spring. I’m ready for the snow to go away and for the green grass and flowers to arrive. I was on the lookout for any crocuses starting to come up, but I didn’t see any. Really, I know it’s probably too early, but I couldn’t help looking.
